MuLab is in fact designed for professionals (given its powerful set of features), but since it’s quite easy to use, even beginners can have fun with it and it’s a great way to learn the basics of music production. Users can combine several tracks, and control the output for each of them until the desired result is achieved. Another option would be inserting one of the included effects or instruments. WAV, MIDI and AIFF files must be imported to create a session. This way, you can quickly mute a track, apply a preset to the current track or merge multiple parts. The context menu also offers all the application’s functions, by right-clicking on almost any item.
The UI offers just two buttons, from which you can access MuLab’s settings and session options. It is developed by PreSonus and available for macOS and Microsoft Windows. The program’s menu is well organized, making it very easy to access all the provided features. Studio One is a digital audio workstation (DAW) application, used to create, record, mix and master music and other audio, with functionality also available for video.
The application has a simple interface, which offers the possibility to work with multiple tracks and MIDI files. While the main MuLab target is electronic music, it can be also used for other musical genres.
It is developed and maintained by a small company (MuTools, Belgium) led by Jo Langie, a pioneer in sequencer technology since early Atari microcomputers.
